There are a number of sites which will accept your press releases and publish them on their sites for free, which is useful for gaining publicity for your organisation. Most of them offer a limited free service, but also have a more fully featured chargeable offering. Note that using paid for services will give you much more publicity, since they can distribute the releases to appropriate contacts and provide more features in terms of images, logos and links that can be included in your press releases.
Examples of sites offering free services are:
Newswiretoday – primarily US based but you can select “international” distribution. Free service is for a text only release and no links inside the release, though you can have a standard link to your website at the end. The site also vets releases (to weed out spam, defamatory and other invalid material) before publishing and can choose to “feature” releases that they find particularly interesting, which attracts more visibility.
MyPRGenie – useful for marketers since one account can set up multiple newsrooms for different clients/subjects. They also run very intereseting webinars on PR topics. It is a great tool for managing distribution of press releases with associated social media. However, you have to have your own set of contacts to whom to send your release and/or pay to select and use an appropriate list from their sets of media contacts.
PRlog.org – has a dashboard showing the number of hits that each release receives to show how many people are reading the release.
Openpr – its front page always shows the latest 50 press releases that it has received with a paragraph of text for the 20 most recent and headlines only for the next 30. Once replaced by newer press releases, your release can stay in their database for as long as you like.
Freepressreleases.co.uk – for free listing on their site
