Mayfield Post Office

I have written on behalf of the MBF to Post Office Ltd asking them to speed up the process of installing a new sub-postmaster or sub-postmistress and re-opening Mayfield Post Office as soon as possible..  You can see a copy of my letter here.

The process is expected to take a few months and while it is important that all the correct steps are taken so that the new Post Office service is suitable and likely to last for a long time, I hope that it can be accomplished speedily given the impact it has had on local residents and businesses.

When the new service does open, I suggest there should be an effort made by the High Street businesses and the residents to bring more life back to the High Street once again. If anyone has any ideas of how to achieve this, please let me know.

I have just received the following email reply to my letter:

    Dear Mr Stone

Thanks you for your letter of 30th December 2013.

I do appreciate that the lack of a Post Office in Mayfield is devastating to both businesses and residents however I would like to assure you that I am working on both temporary and long term solutions in Mayfield.

When there is news on either front it will be communicated to the village via the Parish Council.

    Regards

    Caroline
