2012 promises to be a great year. We have the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to look forward to followed by the Olympics and Paralympics. They may be centred in London but the celebrations will spill out over the whole country, including our corner of East Sussex. We are only just over an hour away from London and there will be plenty of local people and visitors involved in the events – even some unwillingly disrupted by them.
Plans for MBF during 2012 are being worked on. Watch out for a survey for members to fill in to give their ideas and preferences for topics to discuss and other activities.
Meanwhile for those of you who are interested in the Olympics, the train timetable covering 27th July to 12th August has been published to allow you to plan ahead. The details are summarised below.
London to Wadhurst train time during the Olympics
South Eastern trains have now published their train time table covering the period of the Olympics (note that it does NOT cover the period of the Paralympics). The full timetable can be downloaded from here.
The main points to note are:
- Most of the timetable is as usual with just a handful of normal times changed by one or two minutes
- There is an extra late night train every day which leaves Charing Cross at 0037 and arrives at Wadhurst at 0139. There is also an even later train leaving at 0048 which goes as far as Tunbridge Wells, arriving there at 0201
- Sunday services to Wadhurst are the same as Saturday services but with the first train only at 0700 arriving (after one change) at Wadhurst at 0820
- Sunday services from Wadhurst will be the same at Saturday services
